To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Guildhall, the upper Guildhall will be open to the public to have a look around, find out more about its history and view an exhibition of artwork of the building by local children.
Local businesses are joining the celebration with Andover Framing selling a beautiful limited edition Vintage Poster of the Guildhall, and The Travelling Cupcake offering limited edition 200th anniversary cupcakes.
Falling within the national festival, Heritage Open Days, the theme of which is “Architecture”, there will be a “Look Up” trail for families, helping you discover some of Andover’s hidden historical secrets, which you may have walked past many times and not noticed! Come and collect the trail flyer from In Andover who will be in the Chantry Centre.
Andover Museum will also be in the old O2 shop with a Popup Victorian Museum and Guildhall activities and you can have a go at heritage crafts of dyeing and weaving with artists Lucy Pick and Sharon Kearley, alongside hearing stories about Andover that were collected by sound artist Boris Allenou at a residency at Andover Museum earlier in the year.
All activities are free, so do come along!
