The People’s Portrait Studio with photographer Simon Peter Green is returning to the Chantry Centre!
Until recently, having a portrait taken involved a visit to a local studio, where lighting, composition, and photographic expertise made a deliberate and lasting image.
With the growth of smartphones, the high street studio has largely disappeared. Where it still exists, it can feel inaccessible and expensive, limiting who is seen and how they are represented.
The People’s Portrait Studio responds to this change by opening up access to portraiture, creating space for people to be seen on their own terms and restoring the act of portrait making as a shared, everyday experience.
It’s free to have your portrait taken. You will also be sent the digital files free of charge.

Simon will edit your photo and send you the files
Prints are optional, and would be at your own expense. Simon can advise where to get them printed.
Simon is building a portrait record of the people of Andover, with the aim of exhibiting the work in the future. You don’t have to be in the exhibition to have your portrait taken.
